One of the best-kept secrets about summer in Naples, Florida is that it may be the most beautiful time of year.
While many visitors think of Naples as a winter destination, locals know summer brings a quieter pace, peaceful Naples beaches, spectacular sunsets, and the opportunity to truly enjoy the Southwest Florida lifestyle. One of my favorite mornings begins before the sun gets too high. I'll stop at Bad Ass Coffee on Third Street South for an iced coffee before taking a long walk along the beach in Old Naples. The Gulf is often calm as glass, dolphins occasionally surface just offshore, and shorebirds dance along the water's edge searching for breakfast. It's one of my favorite ways to experience the peaceful beauty of Naples beaches.
Afterward, I love wandering through Books on Third, one of Naples' charming independent bookstores. There's something special about discovering a new novel or beautiful coffee table book to enjoy by the pool later that afternoon.

Don't own a boat? Hire one of Naples' outstanding local fishing captains for a half- or full-day charter. Fishing in Naples is exceptional throughout the summer, whether you're targeting snook, redfish, tarpon, or heading offshore in search of grouper and snapper.
After a successful day on the water, continue south to Marco Island and stop at the legendary Snook Inn for one of Southwest Florida's favorite waterfront lunches. Their famous fresh fish sandwiches, Old Florida charm, and views of the Marco River make it well worth the trip.
Summer afternoons are wonderfully unhurried. Cool off with a swim in the pool, curl up with a good book in the air conditioning, or simply enjoy the luxury of slowing down before heading back out for the evening.
As sunset approaches, I often find myself at Park Shore Beach, one of my favorite places along the Gulf. Some evenings Archie and I enjoy a quiet walk along the shoreline. Other nights, I'll bring a beach chair and watch boats return through Doctors Pass as the sky transforms into brilliant shades of pink, coral, lavender, and gold. It's a reminder of why so many people dream of living in Naples, Florida.
